7.3 Powerstroke intermittent oil can dash light

This just started on a road trip to the northeast. I'm getting an intermittent red oil can dash light. I checked the oil level it was ok. I changed the oil and filter while on my trip since it was overdue, and topped off he coolant. Drove it back home this way. No weird noises, no lack of power, felt exactly the same just an occasional oil can light that goes out right away and a slightly dancing oil pressure needle. After getting back home 500+ miles the oil level was exactly what it was when I changed the oil. I searched but didn't find much. I'm stumped. Anybody experienced this? Is it a bad sensor, loose connection or something else?

I've had mine come on when the engine was running hot before. Were your temps normal?

I'm not sure what normal temperature ranges are but Dashcommand Obd2 app showed EOT around 192 +- 10 degrees depending on speed and ECT 10-15 degrees higher than oil.

I'll also add that temperature seems to have no bearing on when comes on the off. It will come on when the engine is cold or warm. It never stays on though.

Rex, Assuming that you have good, clean, 15W40 like Delo, Rotella, or synthetic in there, here are the things I would check, in order:
1) use a quality gauge to check oil pressure at sensor port (this will verify that you have good pressure AND possibly show bad sensor
2)there is a bypass spring right there with the filter and is easy to check
3)possibility that the pick up tube is messed up
4)now that it is getting cooler out, the ebpv valve will be closing to speed warm up and may be sticking some(?)

FYI, poor quality or different viscosity oils can cause foaming and other oil related problems that can stop the engine in its tracks. Hope that helps.
