Abs, airbag and blinker malfunction

Hi all,

I just drove my new SMB home over a thousand miles with no problems and today after showing it off at work I noticed both the ABS light and airbag lights stayed on and the blinkers would not work. Luckily I only had to drive 4 miles to get it home. The van didn't seem to brake any differently and all other electrics ( flashers, windows, radio, ect) worked fine. I turned the van off and when I turned it back on all the lights were off and the blinkers worked....what do you think is going on? The van is a 2003 eb ford.

Re: Abs, airbag and blinker malfunction

My guess would be a worn out ignition lock cylinder is allowing one of the ignition switch contacts to not engage.

Re: Abs, airbag and blinker malfunction

It sounds like something with the ignition switch, either the key isn't turning it all the way or the switch is starting to fail. If it keeps happening try wiggling the switch/key while it is acting up. Don't turn it all the way off or to the start position (bad for the started and flywheel) and if the lights go out and the signals work its the switch. This is not a serious problem.

Good Luck...

...Jamie

BIGVANS & Katheyn,

Please tell me the web site I can use to check for recalls. I never thought about it before.

Thanks,
Angel

Angel,

Any Ford dealer can tell you if any recalls apply to your van. Takes 10 seconds.

Kathryn,

Off topic, but did you buy Dan's 2003 SMB in Bozeman?
