Anyone ever put in a new starter?

Mine died.
I was wondering if anyone has replaced one in a 6.0. I'm looking at the mean greens but I'm unsure. Does anyone have any suggestions?

did mine on this past thanksgiving and the thermometer said it was 12 degrees out. it was awesome

was very straightforward though. seriously only took 10-15 to remove and about the same to reinstall. mine is a 7.3 but the 6.0 looks to be a similar process looking at pix of it in google images.

Thanks for the reply. I should have elaborated more in my post. Sorry about that.

I already roved the starter I'm just seeking suggestions on what to get. Right now I'm looking into a mean green 6.0 starter or an OEM new 6.4 starter.

Hey Charlie, I responded in your thread in the PSD forum but the 6.4 is a direct bolt-on. I went OEM after researching all the options. I don't know the numbers exactly but it's ~600 rpms on start-up versu 450 or 500 and my psd does indeed fire up much more quickly.

Thanks for your help. Especially on the blue spring info.
I'm placing an order for a new 6.4 starter today. Super excited.

I installed my shiney new motorcraft 6.4 starter just now and let me tell you.. If any of you 6.0 guys haven't done it yet... Make it next on your list.. My van has stiction and it sat for a week before I was able to do the swap. And it started up instantly. I'm reading about 213 RPMs during cranking. Cold starts aren't going to be an issue with me any more.

It also sounds like a 6.4 while it's cranking.

Would you happen to know what the amp draw is compared to the stock 6.0 starter?

No say, but this is the thread where I first clued into it. 6.4 starter? - Ford Powerstroke Diesel Forum

I can't edit my post above but the difference in spin is more like 200 rpm versus 150.
