What they are telling you is correct. Quigley machines the rotors so that they will accommodate the ABS sensor or something like that.
I replaced our rotors in late 2003 (and am still running the same rotors). I replaced the stock rotors with drilled/slotted rotors from the Brake Warehouse. At that time, the rotors were $144 each. With the pads and shipping to Quigley, the cost to the Brake Warehouse was $400. Quigley charged me $50 to machine the two rotors and about $40 to ship them to me. Installation locally with the parts supplied by myself came to $415. So...the whole bill was about $400 for parts, $90 for Quigley's efforts, and $415 for installation or just under a $1000 for using the brakes too much coming down I-80 from Donner Summit...
