What elevation was this campground?

The campground is one of several along Rock Creek in the Sierras, off U.S. Route 395, elevation 8400’.

On the subject of gearing vs. power, it seems to me that a way to check which of these factors is in play would be to put it into low, say 1st, gear and accelerate. If it still bogs down then it would rule out gearing. Which I will do when I travel up to that level of elevation again. By the way, the van was in D gear in my description above, with nothing in tow.

Also, this was occurring prior to acquiring the 5-Star, and in fact was one of the reasons I got it. It certainly improved performance, but not at higher altitude.

Thanks, guys, for your thoughts, coming from some of the major heavyweights on the forum.
