Does PS Diesel Kleen do anything?

I've used it sporadically in the past with no real results.

I've been using Opti-Lube (Summer Formula) and it quiets the injector clatter. I will keep using it for that reason.

This trip - from CA, through CO, out to Iowa, onto the Jackson meeting and back to CA - I've been using both Opti-Lube and Diesel Kleen. I commented to my wife (on the phone) that the van was running quietly. Quieter than ever it seemed.

About 600 miles ago I ran out of Diesel Kleen and continued on. After one fillup, 300 miles later the van was noticeably noisier!. Stopped at WallyWorld and picked up some some Diesel Kleen, put in 8 ounces and within 10 miles the engine had quieted down.

I'm a believer.

Opti-Lube quiets the injectors and I like that and will keep using it. Diesel Kleen quiets the diesel clatter. Together they make it a more enjoyable ride.

Don't get me wrong, the engine still rattles like crazy when cold, and still has plenty of rattle below 1500 rpm. But, at higher rpm's it is a totally different beast.

I now have a new routine - 10 ounces Diesel Kleen and 2-3 ounces Opti-lube at every fillup (approx. 30 gallons).

I think all of them make a difference. Our shop had a fuel treatment called diesel mate and it made my work truck run much better. I haven't used it yet but I have a couple products that our shop guys swear by, Hot shot secret and FP Diesel Extreme. Both work to keep the injectors up to par. Hot shot is for the oil, the other's a fuel additive. I still will use cetane booster when on the road.

Have you tried Opti-Lube XPD? I've been curious, but it's noticeably more expensive than Summer Blend since it goes in at a higher dose. I use the Summer Blend.

The price has kept me away from XPD. Summer Blend and Diesel Kleen together are much cheaper. I used to use 2-stroke oil, it worked about the same as Opti-Lube, but I couldn't carry enough for a trip to Alaska; O-L Summer I can carry enough for the whole trip. Diesel Kleen is widely available.

I have only used the Ford Motorcraft cetane booster which I get from the Ford truck center here in town. Can't really say I've noticed a difference, but it's cheap enough to use regularly. If the issue ever comes up with Ford I can say I only used their products.

That is what I'm using but now that I'm off the warranty I'm looking for the best solution. Maybe a blend of different products?

I've been using a blend of Optilube and Archoil 6200 http://www.archoilspokane.com/product-information.html

One ounce of the AR6200 is supposed to treat 80 gallons. My 6.0 defnitely runs smoother and the injectors are quieter. Other supposed benefits like the fuel being more stable, better combustion and less emissions may be true but hard to tell. I'm not sure about increased fuel economy either. Perhaps the biggest benefit is peace of mind that it can't hurt
