Engine stalled a few minutes ago......

Driving up Bishop Creek Canyon right now and the engine started to stutter and then stall on a steep grade. Engine code P0301 if showing on the gauge. Stopped for lunch at the top on the mountain and will try to limp to town.

Read what the code means on the net just now. Any advise from the group before I find a mechanic in town?

Also been showing P0191 on and off for a few weeks.

Not a great first day of vacation so far.....

P0301-Missing on #1 cylinder
P0191-Fuel rail sensor

Sounds like you have a fuel pressure issue. Pump?

Is it hot? Vaporlock?

No, no that can't be - only the 6.0's fail when in a bad location.

Seriously, I've been there and you have my best wishes for a good outcome.

Re: Engine stalled a few minutes ago......

Most likely low fuel pressure. Maybe a plugged fuel filter? I would be very surprised if your fuel pump itself is the problem.

No help anywhere in Bishop. Everyone is booked solid with buisness. Going to see if I can limp around for the week and have it fixed at home. Off for a beer now.....

try fuel filter. It is cheap and easy to replace. Mine was located right under the drivers door near the frame rail. Most auto parts stores carry them or quick lube oil change places.

Re: Engine stalled a few minutes ago......

When your driving around town does the engine seam to be missing? it could be a bad
plug or more likely the coil on cap went bad. I would start with the fuel filter replacement.

Good luck Dave
