Extended Warranty for Diesel

You've missed the fun of replacing injectors. Pass side means removing the motor mount and lowering the engine to remove the valve cover. That's after the grill, radiator, tubo hoses, alternator, and a bunch of other stuff was removed. 8+ hours of tech time plus reassembly. Then to find an injector out on the other side.

Oh, did I mention the 5 days in a motel in Prince George, BC?

Except for a lack of power, the engine ran fairly well on 6 1/2 cylinders. And the mileage wasn't affected at all.

I'm glad I have more to look forward too. I had forgotten about Injector failures.

This engine has its quirks for sure. Many have had no problems, others not so much. I have said jokeingly a few times that I love the SMB but could do without the Ford part. Mine is in right now for a leaking EGR cooler hose. My warranty is up next week so I decided to give the engine a once over. I took the doghouse off and in snooping around with a flashlight I noticed a small puddle of coolant on the top of the engine.

So far in 11k miles:
Fan clutch (under warranty)
Turbo (under warranty)
U-joint (previous owners oversight)

I still love this rig though....as long as it doesn't leave me stranded.

Update:
Dealership says the van will be there 3 more days for the EGR cooler hose and a crank case seal. They were pulling the tranny this afternoon.

Thankfully it's under warranty.
