Re: ford E350 5.8 high idle problem
I too had idling problems with my 5.8. Mine would high idle anytime but only 20% of the time. If I turned it off it would correct itself. It would idle at 2000rpm which made it tough to drive slow on backcountry roads. Anyway I had my idle contol valve changed, no luck. My TPS was changed 7yrs ago and had the problem 1 year later so I didn't change it even though it was 1 of the codes along with EGR codes which I also had changed. So we thought maybe the computer was bad and put on a rebuilt one, no luck. Had a TPS code again on the new computer so changed that along with the O2 sensor and took it on a 2000mile trip to Idaho's Lost River Mts, got up to 8300' and drove lots of bad roads and it idled great for the 1st time in 7 years. Seems like the trouble shooting for TPS I've read didn't relate to mine but it works now. Hope your proves to be sucessfull.
