I thought it was a great truck engine.
- Low end torque but little high RPM HP.
- Gas mileage similar to the small V-8's with less power similar torque.
- I think it is a better engine than the 5.0L v-8 for trucks. The 5.0L was lighter and had better HP/RPMs.
- Compared to GMs 4.3l and Dodge 3.9l, it was the biggest/most torque...owners/contractors used to swear by them.
Straight 6's are dynamically stable. This means no harmonic balancer or balance shafts. This makes the engine smooth running.
I would not hesitate to get this engine other than it is old.
