Ford Transmission R140M "chatter" on new 2013 Vans ???

Anybody having annoying transmission "chatter" above 45 mph on new 6 gear auto transmission - model R140M (?) I think ? V-10 Triton engine combo. Really annoying - can be heard even while playing chassis radio or other music device in vehicle.

Would love to hear of anyone's experiences with this noise issue - any success is resolving issue thru Ford warranty ? Believed to be solenoid induced or what ??

The vans even through 2014 have the 5R110 which has 6 gear ratios, but they still call it a 5-speed because only 5 of the gears are used at a time ("4th" has 2 different ratios).

I have never heard any noise from that transmission. Have you looked underneath for debris caught on the driveline? Even just a piece a of tape can make a surprising amount of noise.

I'm guessing you have a new van? Or a new replacement transmission?

In either case, I'd take it back to the Ford dealer (or shop that replaced the trans) and get them to listen to it make the noise.

This van and transmission is brand new. Nothing caught under chassis to generate this noise. Transmission is as described, I believe -- Model # R140M.

Did a search on 'R140M" on the Ford.com site and received no hits whatsoever.

Did a search on 'R140M' and 'transmission' on Google, and the only related hit that came up was your post here.

Re: Ford Transmission R140M "chatter" on new 2013 Vans ???

Last week I happened to be in the shop when one of the mechanics had a new 15-passenger E-350 up on the lift for its first service. Noticing that the van's tranny looked completely different than the Torqueshift in my '07 I asked the guy which transmission Ford was putting in them now. He replied that he didn't know - it was something new. But the pan looked smaller and different than the one on my '07, and there was no external oil filter either.
