Gas gauge reads empty

Came out to drive the van, gas gauge read empty, but no light came on. I know my tank is at least half full. I got the pump and filter replaced 2 weeks ago, any connection between the two? I'd take it back to the shop I got the work done, but it's about 90 minutes away.

Any things i should look at that might be a simple fix?

Empty read = open circuit. Probably a connector came loose.

Since the fuel pump is mounted on the gas gauge sending unit (on my 5.4 anyway) it's not hard to believe the two are related.
