Way too late on this one, but if anyone is in the PDX area I really like working with A-N-T Tire and Wheel. I've brought them some weird problems on my Ranger, Blazer and other vehicles I've owned. Reasonable rates too.

I started going to them because they've always got old Saab race cars in the parking lot, and when the Oregon Trail rally is in town you see built Fiestas on trailers in there. They know what they're doing, for sure - although they're probably not a great "drop in" shop. They are apparently the only people that could balance a set of Goodyear Duratracs on my Ranger (Goodyear ****ed up the install so bad they forgot to add adequate air pressure, didn't even try a balance, Les Schwab said they balanced them but they weren't) and they've done front-end rebuilds on a few of my vehicles and have never tried to sell me on anything.

For drop ins, the best experience I've had in town is Gill's Point S:

Garth and A-N-T tire are awesome and at most road race events in the PacNW. Phone or email your order in ahead of time and their track side support crew takes care of everything. At Rose Cup this year they had 5 guys working to keep turn times to under 2 hours. Everyone wants fresh rubber for Rose Cup

Now that Discount tire and others are collecting sales tax in WA state I've switched to A-N-T for race rubber.

As you mentioned, they have some great vintage rally cars and rally support vehicles as well. Garth is a hoot to drink with too

I was honestly intimidated bringing street vehicles (and trucks, no less) to Garth given they obviously work on race cars, that's just not the case. They treated my beater $1000 Blazer like it was a a $50,000 BMW. I feel a little foolish for gushing about a shop so much, but I've been in so many terrible wheel and suspension shops that any excuse to recommend A-N-T is a good excuse.
