Power out of r 5.4L

Hi all. I have been searching for a non-converted E350 with low-isn miles and find one from time to time but most have the 4.6L engine and some have the 5.4 engine. I really wanted to get a V10 for pulling livestock trailers and moto trailers but just can't find one. I will also want to convert to 4x4 and it will be a heavy tank so the more power the better out of that engine.

Are there any quick trips/updates one could do to a 5.4L engine to make it perform better? I know adding on 2 more cylinders would help but just can't do that mod. Turbos, Superchargers, Jet Fuel... anything to make that bad boy run a lot better with some gusto.

Live in the SW part of CO and that means lots of mountains here and in surrounding states.

I would appreciate anything you can give me or steer me in the right direction.

Twin screw charger is a possibility, but I would't want one for towing heavy. Simply too much heat to reject during long uphill pulls.

Newberg Ford outside of Portland usually keeps a small handful of v10 E350s in stock, often already 4x4.

Hold out for a V10. They're out there, just keep looking.

Newberg Ford has a used V10 EB passenger van with Quadvan conversion. And Only $13k more than I paid for my brand new van 3 years ago. Bargain!

I agree. I can forward you links. I'm always looking for v10s, hoping I can find the perfect 05 or newer one for, say, $500. They're out there. What's your budget?

The V10 would be my dream and living in the high mountains I guess I will hold out for that. I have also been looking at a 6L diesel with low miles but the owner just wants too damn much money for it.

I'll keep looking at Newberg's site and maybe give them a call to see what they have and keep an eye out. I want a cargo van so the Chateau version just won't work for me. There are a TON of those out there but again, don't want all those windows. Too much cold and heat transmitted through that glass.

The 6.0 will cost you money now AND later, the V10 will cost you less now and later.

BTW - Dale is the van manager at Newberg. He basically scours the country for lightly used, and sometimes new unsold E-Series inventory. Most of them get funneled through QuadVan before getting sold. There's another dealer in CA doing the same thing, because there's still good demand for them. So yes, give Dale a call and maybe you can snag one before it gets added to their official inventory. There will probably be longer lead times going forward as they alternate between E and T series 4x4 production.
