Rear Springs Shifted Left

A squeak was diagnosed by my dealer to be the front mounts of my rear leaf springs rubbing against the shackle.

See pic in my gallery. You can see how the entire front of the rear suspension is shifted hard to the left.

Dealer Service Manager wants to replace the springs. Waiting for authorization.

rear leaf springs

This has been a very common problem that SMB corrects when performing their 4x4 conversion. The rear leaf spring bushing on the driver side was not pressed in properly. The leaf spring should be centered on the bushing, you will probably notice it is off-centered allowing the edge of the spring to rub on the inside of the shackle. The squeek doesn't occur until after the paint wears off of the leaf spring and shackle.

Ford should handle this under their warranty. It may take a call to Quigley to convince the dealer it is a Ford issue, as I'm sure Quigley has seen it numerous times too.

I hope this helps.

I got the call from my dealer. The springs will be in next week. Ford springs are modified by Quigley for the conversion. I assume the springs will be coming from Quigley. I don't know who is covering it the cost.

rear springs

I question that the Ford dealer really knows what they're telling you about Quigley modifying the rear springs. Quigley adds a Ford spacer between the axle and spring pack, but I don't know of any other mods they would do to the spring pack.

I would contact Quigley and confirm so that you have the info in case the dealer wants you to pay for the work.

I hope this helps.
