Stupid Questions.....

Just bought a 99 E350 EB with a 5.4 and FF rear axel. Got a smoking deal and it has a high top.

No owners manual so I have a couple questions. (I'm a Chevy guy, those are easy)

What power steering fluid?
What transmission fluid?

Anyone who has an owners manual that has the factory details on the fluid types?

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure but I doubt it. Schematics are typically found in Ford's EVTM's, Electro-Vacuum Troubleshooting Manuals either on CD-ROM (or DVD) or their printed versions.

Typically I'll find EVTM's through eBay but a quick look at my saved searches doesn't show anything for your year. Fluid types etc should be shown in the Owner's Manual.

I agree, your better off researching the manufacturers recomendations rather than taking the word of some internet posters opinion. Thats not to say theres isn't a lot of good information here, but it mostly all boils down to opinion, sometimes based on something less that real fact. I bought all the factory manuals on Amazon for under $100. Having said that, my 2001 E250 uses Mercon V but using the wrong fluid could cause problems.

FWIW: Mercon is no more. Mercon V is the fluid for both the tranny and power steering.

From what I've read on line (0% reliable) everyone says not to use DexIII/Mer. Many report noise and problems when trying to use that.
