Tires noise

Hello,
I have a set of 305/70/16 Mickey Thompson radial and they are sooooooooo noisy on the freeway. I don't even hear the diesel or wind anymore...just the wheels!! It is annoying. does anybody have any brand recommendation "less" noisy maybe. Or a special tread pattern?
I think part of it also is because my van is empty right now. When I'll start building the interior and add material around the wheel wells it should get better...but what about the front tires? How about spraying some sound deadening paint in the wheel well? Anybody tried?
Thanks
JT

Re: Tires noise

Wow. I think the list of louder tires would be much shorter. Super Swampers, that's about it. ;-)

Many here are running Nitto, Toyo, or BFG. ANY of those would be a SIGNICANT improvement. Just make sure they are "E" rated.

There are many threads on tires in the 4x4 section. You can likely find everything you need to know there.

Re: Tires noise

I have had BFG's, Open Country's, and Cooper sst's that were great tires and not loud at all (IMO). I have also had a set Thornbirds that were crazy loud and scary to drive on.....on wet and dry land!

Re: Tires noise

Both sets of BFG Mud TAs are the loudest I've had, the Toyo Muds on both the Jeep and van are very quite for good mud terrain, and the AT are the quietest with BFG ATs being slightly louder than the Nitto ATs.

Toyo Open Country MT
I love these tires they look bad ass and the are quite the only time i feel the tread is just before I come to a stop. I have heard the nitto is good Ive never tried them.
