Who knows what this is and what it's for.


This black box is on my air intake between the air cleaner and turbo. The box is sealed except for the two inch connection on the intake. There are no other ports or holes in the box. It seems to be some sort of air expansion chamber or air heater. It's a pain in the butt because I have to remove it to change the fuel filter. I want to take it off and toss it, but thought I'd better understand it's function better. Anyone know what it's purpose is, and what the implications would be if removed.

It's a resonator for the intake. keeps the noise down. You could remove it, and put a cap on the intake tube to seal it. There may be some more noise though.....
