4 Gal. Water Heater

Anybody here familiar with the 4 gallon water heater option from SMB? How well it performs, where they install it, etc.? I just saw it yesterday on their site. I believe it's electric. Seems like a good compromise if you don't want the propane option.

Thanks,

If this is the InSinkerator 110v water heater..... then we have a little experience...

That water heater heated faster than we ever thought it would.... less than 5 minutes. And it kept heating fast, we were able have three people semi-shower and clean-up after a morning of hiking.

As the weather changes we expect to gain more experience....

SMB says that on an RB-50, this goes in the shelved closet, which seems like an odd location. Just wondering if anybody has one.

Thanks,

Ours, in a center aisle layout, is directly under the sink.

I have the Instahot (which I think is the Insinkerator). Unfortunately i think the element burned out when someone (no names ) accidentally left it on with no water in it.

mine is the one without the tank, so i may upgrade to the one with the small tank.

also mine is right under the sink and fits well.

cellularSteve,

So you have an RB-50 with a water heater under the sink? SMB Fresno says this isn't possible.....what gives? Do you have a custom design or something?

Thanks,

As I mentioned: mine is the one without the tank, so i may upgrade to the one with the small tank.

It is an Instahot type deal that heats the water on-demand. No tank, just some type of coils that heat the water. it is about 8 inches wide by 12 inches tall by a 3 inches deep. The previous owner gave it to SMB West to install.
