Makalu1, when I contacted 3M they said this;

"Thank you for contacting 3M Automotive Aftermarkets.

For upholstery, 3M (TM) Headliner and Fabric Adhesive, PN38808 should work for your application. If you're wanting a double sided tape, PN06382 (1/2" X 20") plus the use of 3M (TM) Adhesion Promoter, PN06396, applied to the final, will work also."

I went with the Headliner and Fabric Adhesive PN38808 and backed it up with a 3m style duct tape. Reused the old vinyl and so far it's holding, but has only been a couple of months... Cleaning the old glue and tape residue was a mess and the use of GooGone was a definite necessity. If I have to do it again, I would have to seriously consider just using new vinyl and cutting some new hardboard door panels.

Good luck and cheers! -steve-

Many contact adhesives will work....I'd likely use weldwood landau top adhesive, only because I have it and it's appropriate for this.

Spray headliner adhesive will work also, both of these are high temp contact adhesives. Plain old brush on weldwood contact adhesive will likely work as well...just need to brush on both surfaces and let dry before sticking them together. Same with the headliner and Landau top adhesive.
