closet door upholstery
Anyone have this issue?
The "upholstery" on my closet doors is separating from the "door" itself.
Emailed SMB and the said to use 3m adhesive.
Kind of figured that, but how do you get the doors out without breaking them?
Also, anyone use auto trim on the front and rear edges of the door to keep it from reoccurring?
Don't really want to use staples.

Get some different angle pictures and pictures of where the door mounts.
It's hard to get an idea from those...

Are those doors the horizontal sliding type like in a "50" layout?(Looks like your van is a "50" from your avatar pic) If so I have similar sliding doors on my sink cabinet and you just pull the doors straight up in the top track and that pulls them up out of bottom track just enough to push them into the cabinet and remove the doors. Again, not sure if they are exactly the same but if you poke your head into the cabinet and see a top and bottom track I that is likely how you would remove the doors.

It might take a little wrangling, but there's some flex in those panels too, so they should come out without any issues.

Yup. That did it. Thanks for the replies.
It was a pain but I got them out. Resprayed them with 3m contact adhesive and backed that up with Gorilla Tape. Shame they couldn't use something more permanent and durable.

Thanks Brig. As a new Sportsmobile owner my doors have the same issue as you described. I will be following your lead and "tacking" this issue too.

Which 3M adhesive did you use? Spray 77? Spray 90?
I used spray headliner adhesive in lots of places on my build, it holds up to heat better than the vanilla contact adhesives. For brush on contact adhesive I used DAP landau top contact adhesive for the same reason...heat. Those two adhesives stick to each other very well too.

Hey great info as I needed to do this as well. Got the forward door out with this info but damned if I can get it back in! Wifey tried but she could not get it back in either. Should have made a video of taking it out to do the reverse. Any other tips???

Eddy, I'm guessing you got it figured out by now? Not sure if you're having issues getting the door back in the closet itself or once in the closet, back in the track system. On mine (with the door back in the closet) I was able to put the door in the upper track and while lifting up I placed a wide putty knife under the bottom edge to help lift the door up and over the the lower track. Once the door was is position, I was able to slide the putty knife out and the door was able to "slide" into the lower track. Good luck!
