Re: Diy Galley project

I guess it must be something akin to a Kreg jig (only for dowels which maybe go in straight not angled). I recently bought one of the latter but haven't used it yet (out traveling hence no shop).

Reelchef: How wide is the T-molding that you ordered? If it's the typical 3/4" or 13/16" wide stuff, your 5/8" BB ply may be a little skinny.

Are you planning on using contact cement or PVA glue and an iron?

...you'll also need a router and trimmer bit.....

Hi boy wonder .
I've ordered 40 ft ?. And 20 feet of 1/2 inch t molding.
I already have a edge trimmer for the laminate a slot 1/16 cutter coming for the t slot of the molding.
I'll be using contact cement for the laminate install.
I do the occasional bit wood working( field target rifle stock, grips and furniture) and machining as a hobby so I've got lots of power tools
Here's some rough sketches I've been working on.

Re: Diy Galley project

So I need / wanted a door for the storage area in my right hand barn door.
I figured this would be a good first test for teaching myself how to build laminated covers doors , shelves tables etc.
Very happy with the results.
I used
Jigsaw to cut door shape

1/16 Freud slot cutter bit with my router
Router Edge Trimmer bit
Contact cement
˝ inch t molding
Laminate from Rona hardware store.

Re: Diy Galley project

Finished and installed in one afternoon. Not as fast as I wanted but like the result.
