^^^ don't crutches have a similar push to adjust mechanism?? I know a buddy of mine has quite a few crutches laying around after 4 kids have moved through the house over the years. might be an option for ya without cannibalizing poker night furniture

Oddly, I was already looking a crutch mechanism (for the height adjustability) and the card table (folding action), and wanted something that combined both functions. Add to that the criteria of the amount of weight it would support, and hopefully something not too 'ghetto' looking, and that was the state of my planning / chewing before seeing a pic of the folding hinge (thx for the link Boywonder!) I might have to still hack it a bit for my height requirements, but this definitely represents an improvement to the plan.

This way, when my wife looks over my shoulder and sees me typing "Wow! What sexy legs.. thanks for the pic!", at least I know I'll have a comfortable place to sleep for the next few days..

In the past I have cut down a standard cargo bar to use as a table leg. Worked quite well.
