espar airtronic d2 for cargo van

is this a good choice for cargo van, just rear and front door windows.insul,headliner,carpet. .Empty rear just starting interior buildout.rear bench/bed already installed.gas engine, they do make this heater in gas as well as diesel, gas sounds crazy to me,i think i would rather do the extra work of a 3 gallon aux tank, and buy the diesel model.any thing im missing here, new to this......thanks

They do make a gas version of the espar, however SMB won't install due to safety concerns (as far as I know). Something to consider.

Also plan to cut your own windows if you want any air flow. Otherwise, who knows, it's an empty van.

Good luck.

i thought with the intake and exhaust outside these were safe, front windows open wont be enough fresh air...i guess i could cut in vents on sides of van, really dont want windows.

I used to have a Chevy G20 that was just like that only the front windows, no opening the back ones... zero airflow beyond the cab area.

But that's for warm weather camping, whereas the heater is for cold. I think I'd rather put a propane system in than have a separate diesel tank for the espar. Half the benefit to me is being able to warm up your engine, and the other half is single fuel source. However grass is greener as they say and it might just look really great over the propane.

You have to remember too that most of us didn't build our vans from the ground up... we can look at what SMB did and conjecture, but the people who started with a cargo shell and went from there are few and far between round these parts. It actually makes me think we need a "ground up" section in the next revision of the website...
