Question Espar gas > $ diesel? / air + H2o?

Hi all

So I was just told by someone who had a Espar heater put into his diesel van that the gasoline Espar heater was about $2,000 more (installed) than the diesel version.

any ideas why? Something to do with gasoline much more volatile than diesel?

and

i had heard that i could also get a hot air / hot water combo unit made by Espar. Does anyone have any guesses why / or other info about this?

We hadn't planned on doing hot water in the build, but if it is easy and not a ton more $.....

can the hot water be set to a reasonable temperature? to use straight? so we
could take showers with hot only? or do we need a fresh tank for sure for blending during the shower?
thanks.

I could be wrong about this, but IIRC, Espar offers hot air, hot water, and engine preheating. I don't think I have ever seen a single unit that will do all 3, but I believe you can find different units that will do any 2 of those. Eberspächer-Espar are the terms to search for. You will want to read about the differences between Airtronic, Hydronic, and Combitronic. Rixen's sells the Espar units and adds their own supplemental parts. You will often see the term "Rixen's D5" in the pages of this forum. That unit is the Espar D5 with the Rixen's extras, sold by Rixen's as a single kit. Some of Espar's products draw heat from the radiator system to make hot water and hot air.

There are numerous threads on Espar and Rixen's in the archives of this site, so many that I think it better for you to just do your own searches than for me to post all the links. Here are some Espar and Rixen's links:

The Espar Hydronic D5W SC is the model most people use for hot air and water. It runs on diesel and the gasoline version is B5W SC. Here's the mfg. link: https://www.eberspacher.com/products...ydronic-5.html
