FOAM CUSHIONS

Hi everyone:

I should be getting my van back from the fabricating shop Friday and it is time to order some foam for a custom sized bed platform I am installing.

I have been talking to a company that is recommending their 6" thick (medium-firm) high density foam. It weighs a pound per square foot.

This is a urethane foam material and the company stated that it would not have a gas off problem once it was in contact with the air. He stated he has had no complaints on this subject. Anyone out there have any ideas or suggestions on foam for a mattress?

I want something firm. I will also have a cover made for it.

Thanks,

jjtwister

Re: FOAM CUSHIONS

6" thick seems awful thick! My foam is standard (non firm), but it is 3" thick. I got it from a "Mattress Foam & Upholstery Warehouse" place, or something like that. They do all kinds, custom cut in front of you while you wait, and they do memory foam. If you could find a place like this near you I would recommend trying some different things out. Just for comparison though, 6" is about as thick as a decent residential mattress, which would take up a ton of space in a van.

Good luck, I'll be watching this with interest.

A good nights sleep starts with a quality mattress. My advise is don't cheap out. How important is sleep to you?

Re: FOAM CUSHIONS

Check out the Cabela's web site
They feature about 20 different sleeping pads all kinds of camping uses.
Ranging from foam to air to the combo of air/foam

all reasonable prices

Let me know if you cannot find them on the web site as I get the catalogue from them.
