Re: Galley Box by CCV arrived today.....

congrats, that looks like a slick setup. do you currently have any other galleys installed, either smb or homebrew? look forward to hearing how you like it.

ccv has a short vid showing all its functions for those interested.

Re: Galley Box by CCV arrived today.....

Watched the video a few times last night after messing around with it a little and it looks like he uses his forearm to collapse the side shelf. As he told me on the phone it should be much easier to use once installed. But who waits to do that.....lol

I'll snap a pic of the underside when it's installed to show the hinging system.

It is pricey but something I can really use everyday so easily justified for me.

Shenrie: This will be the first cabinet like this for the van.

Re: Galley Box by CCV arrived today.....

Watched the video a little while back and was curious how much they were. Seems like a really solid product, regardless of cost. Nothing is more annoying than thinking you got a great deal only to realize the product is garbage, so sometimes it is better to fork over a little more dough and get it right the first time.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Once he comes up with a nice 8-10" top I will start to seriously consider it!

Re: Galley Box by CCV arrived today.....

Sportsmobile charged me $706 for their door galley this past summer in my build, which may or may not be as robust (can't compare since I don't have a CCV handy). Regardless, the CCV version is not out of the ballpark in price relative to SMB. The SMB version, however, swings out and can be lifted off too, whereas the CCV version looks like it is anchored "permanently" to the door. It remains to be seen how well the SMB mounting scheme holds up over time. The CCV version looks pretty robust in comparison.

Good to know Grumpy. Planned on installing it this weekend but decided on a trip instead. Quick pic from today. More tomorrow...

My experience with Derek and CCV and then my cabinet rebuild with my current Sportsmobile kind of guarantees in my mind that the CCV door galley is much more stout than the SMB one. Derek builds stuff pretty bulletproof. SMB cabinetry, as most of us know, leaves a lot to be desired (read particle board). He also says in the video that it is build of baltic birch (solid wood) and Brent has already mentioned how tight and stout the hardware etc. is. I would have one of these if it would fit with my floorpan, but I would take the SMB version too, if it would fit.

Re: Galley Box by CCV arrived today.....

Cabinet is in and looks great. Still waiting for the towel rack to come in but looking forward to using it.

You still need to be careful opening and closing the side shelves. The springs are very strong and if you slip opening a side shelf you will get your fingers caught when it closes. Closing can be just a tricky. Not sure how Derek is closing the shelf in his video as my hinge system does not look the same. Maybe it is. I'll try posting a quick video of it sometime.

There was no installation instructions with the unit and even using the template that was provided was not clear with how the holes should be drilled.

I am sure we will be modifying the unit after a few weeks of use and I'll make a post of the results.

Again the actual construction looks great minus the above mentioned items and I am sure I will get many years use out of it.
