Heater on the Frits

Hey all,

This weekend my sherwood heater took a dump on me. When I first ingnited it it went on just fine. 20 Min later I tuned it off. 1 hour later I turned it on but it would not stay lit. I could see the flame from the igniter and while the igniter was on the flame was on. When the igniter went of I could hear the regualtor shut off, ala no flame

Im thinking the reg is bad. I purged it three times but still no luck.

You all have any other ideas????

Sounds more like the thermocouple.

The thermocouple senses the flame, if no flame is detected, the gas will shut off - it is a safety feature to save your life.

Could be a bad thermocouple, a loose connection, the thermocouple could have moved out of the flame or something else.

The thermocouple should be in the flame.

If you have a pilot light, it should be in that flame. Although, is sounds like you don't have a pilot light.

It might look like a skinny pencil with a wire attached. The wire goes to a gas control valve. When it gets hot, the thermocouple generates a small voltage, and that voltage causes the gas control valve to open and flow gas.
