How dark is your tint?

My SMB has ZERO tint. I actually don't mind having no tint on other cars, but since the inside of the SMB is a living space, I'd like to have some privacy. The question is, do I go with 5% (limo) or 20% tint on the windows behind the driver/passenger? I would get a light tint (50%) on the front driver/passenger windows so I dont get hassled by the cops and to block some UV's coming in.

What % tint do you guys have? Do you wish you would have gone lighter/darker than what you chose?

Zero tint for mine too and I like to see real colors outside. If I need privacy, I just close curtains...

Re: How dark is your tint?

I'm Ca legal but dark is nice on hot days. If you have a auto dimming rearview mirror, the tint keeps it from working. I keep reflectixs in the rears all the time anyway. Day/nite shades keep snoopers from seeing during most of the day and at night reflectix goes up all the way around. I just think dark windows makes for a good looking setup.

I had my tint guy match the back on the front windows and it's now 15% all the way around. Looks sweet black on black and made a big difference in summer heat.

Re: How dark is your tint?

Some years ago when I was looking at tint, I recall coming across a clear 'tint' that had a low degree of IR transmittance to keep heat down while not restricting the view.

OEM standard. None on front windows, some on others.

Re: How dark is your tint?

I'm trying to decide between limo and 20%. I have limo (5%) on my daily driven wagon and its not too bad at night. I agree the tinted windows on the SMB's make the van look much better.

Re: How dark is your tint?

I have limo on all the back windows and light on the passengers windows. Works perfect for my needs.

Re: How dark is your tint?

I'm with Pschitt...close the curtains when needed. I got dark tint on my old Acura MDX, but it sure made driving at night tough. I won't tint the SMB, it's hard enough to see out of as it is with the Ford tints.

Re: How dark is your tint?

We've got factory tint on the OEM windows and I think the RV window have some tint as well. It is all fairly light. It's perfect for us. I don't think we would like clear windows but we can still see out OK.

Much of our camping is in hot sunny weather.
