How do I turn on Starcool on shore power?

Never used Starcool without van running. But I have hookups where I'm at right now. How do I turn the unit on? The normal dash dial that works when the engine on does nothing. Thermostat that works the furnace does nothing. And manual does not include any info (thanks SMB!).

Thoughts?

Re: How do I turn on Starcool on shore power?

check the breaker on the electrical hook up at the site make sure it is on. I spent an hour trouble shooting mine once and that was the first thing it said to check . I thought that was to simple I guess. Just a thought.
On my 03 the thermostat has to be on cool and temp. turned down and switch above drives head must be on and the ignition key must be off. I that doesn't work check the circuit breakers even the little black dots on the ones by the relays under the seat.
I hope this helps I am still not sure I operate mine correctly.
Jim

Re: How do I turn on Starcool on shore power?

Here is a post from a few weeks ago that might help. In the picture the little black button on the circuit breaker with the red and blue wires going to it was tripped and I like to have never tracked it down.
Hope your cool tonight

Harrumph. No dice so far. Definitely have 110 power, thermostat is turned on and as low as it can go, dash dial is cranked up. Nothing. Oh well.

Re: How do I turn on Starcool on shore power?

Sure you have the Starcool III? There is a huge AC compressor about the size of a 2.5 gallon water can on the frame somewhere. FWIW they made an non-shore power version that only works with the engine running. Other than what Jim posted, to go over it again, you need the thermostat turned on to "cool", set to the lowest temp, the SC fan speed switch on 1,2 or 3 and the Starcool power switch turned on...mine is located behind the driver seat on the wall. If you have the inverter set to invert the Starcool pulls too much for inverters 2Kw and smaller and will possibly trip off the inverter. Most inverters automatically pass the shore power AC through when in the off position so there is no need to have it on in the first place.

In addition to the above, make sure the SC main breaker is turned on on the AC breaker panel.

I reckon I have one of them only works when the engine is running models. Which is fine with me. Just thought it would interesting to run the AC while parked, which I guess I can't.

No big deal, it doesn't work very well. You need to start it in the morning while it's cool, park in shade, and keep the windows covered up with reflectix. To tell the truth I wish I didn't spend the money on it considering what it cost me. But driving wise the 12v version, is awesome.
