Interior advice needed and take a look at what I am doing.
Have been quietly researching and trying to find solutions to update my SMB.
The original owner removed the gaucho and replaced with a flip style with two VERY uncomfortable,e cushions, almost completely worthless to have a passenger sit in for more than 1 hour.
So I have been searching for a replacement gaucho, jack knife couch.
I have 64" to work with in my RB40.
I built my own penthouse folding platform for summer months. And am very happy
(Can show pics)
Any experienced SMB guys out there have any ideas/solutions?
And here is my updated vinyl wrapped cabinetry in grey......
(I don't like the wood paneling and was looking for a inexpensive solution to update the SMB for a while. And see what I want to modify.
My friend who owns a graphics shop ran out of laminate, so next week I am going to start the walls and more. I bought 75' of the grey trim from Nancy at SMB north.
I removed all the cabinetry in the rear of the rig as it was worthless for my needs..(shower and sink)
Kept everything and retained the plumbing for an outdoor shower.

Yeah saw a lot of that stuff. Problem is I can build something so much better than those options. For a grand I will build something custom, light, comfortable, aesthetically pleasing & for a lot less $$$.
Looking for other options from you talented SMB lovers.

I have no doubt about your woodworking skills, but I question your choice of materials. So, the only thing I would suggest is don't use softwood exterior plywood. Use a good grade of multiple-ply hardwood plywood if you want the screws to hold. Home Depot, etc. apparently get special shipments and have it for sale now and then.

Not sure how much you are looking to do or spend but I remember reading this post about an DIY electric Sofa-Bed that someone on here created. Even if you don't go full tilt with his design, there may be some useful info in there.

Re: Interior advice needed and take a look at what I am doin
I'd check the junk yards for a jack knife. You could re-cover it, or have it re-covered, to your liking. 64" might take quite a bit of searching to find, maybe old pop-ups. You only need the frame so who cares what condition the cushions are in. We bought a new flexsteel for our build and that proved to be a mild mistake. We had to work with the retailer to get a local upholstery shop to fix it, doing it over I'd go find an older flexsteel frame and have the cushions made. We might stop somewhere in Mexico and have ours re-done anyway.

The pictures show how I purchased it (cushions removed), 3/4" is heavy and not to my standards.

WvVan. The thread is positively huge but he added an index on the first page. There are probably others too but he built a pretty cool electric sofa/bed.

Wheelie: If I understand you right, you did not install the 3/4" cdx plywood. Got you. I just suggested using a hardwood plywood. In fact, I have used a seven ply 1/2" maple hardwood which really impressed me as to strength to weight ratio.
