Penthouse canvas mold

We were snow camping on our last outing and thought that we had the penthouse canvas dry when we dropped the top but I popped the top yesterday to see some discoloration on the back wall. Anyone have a proven suggestion for getting rid of this problem?

Re: Penthouse canvas mold

In addition to asking here, we did an on-line search and also sent Alan Feld an e-mail. One website talked about removing mold from pop-up tent canvas and suggested 50/50 water and rubbing alcohol. Alan referenced a couple of sites and one of those also suggested the water and alcohol. I tried that a couple of hours ago and it did the job...case closed.

I don't remember what it is we use for mold on our boat seats, but it works incredibly well. Let me find out and I will get back to you.

Re: Penthouse canvas mold

My canvas gets black, and it looks like stain but water takes it away instantly. Then it comes back, slightly different pattern, same stain- I finally figured out it is condensation bringing dirt (from the long time top leak) to the surface of the canvas. Wiping it down just hides it. Been meaning to get up there with Resolve... this is on the inside BTW.

Re: Penthouse canvas mold

I should mention that the 50/50 water and rubbing alcohol doesn't work right away...in other words, it is still there after you've rubbed the spots with a cotton rag soaked in the mixture. But it was gone when the spot dried...
