Re: Plumbers Putty Used On Thetford

So I don't believe now that that stuff is plumber's putty. It's too tacky and sticky still after at least 6 years (and 6 mos. sitting apart like that )

The closest guess I have is "Gray Fresh Water Mastic" but I can't really find any photos of the stuff. The box hardware stores are clueless of course.

I called Thetford... waiting to hear back, the initial response was "we don't know what you're talking about, send a photo"; despite having a photo onhand they still insisted on calling me back instead. Hopefully with an answer before the weekend...

Re: Plumbers Putty Used On Thetford

They have not called nor emailed me back. The hardware store employees are useless as it's not gluing ABS to ABS. I meant to call again.

Re: Plumbers Putty Used On Thetford

If you Google RV Tape Putty , you will find what you are looking for ! Be sure to buy the newer and improved type that is a Butyl based product . I carry a 4 foot piece in the Van and in my Boats . Just roll it up and keep in a cool place in a Zip Lock bag . Very inexpensive product .

"Tacky, stays soft, resists water" Sure looks like the stuff. 25 foot roll for $7.99 or so does seem cheap.

Re: Plumbers Putty Used On Thetford

Looks and sounds exactly like the "gray fresh water mastic" that was the closest I've seen, but nobody ever heard of. I'm off to the trailer store today to see if they stock the good butyl kind.
