Re: Portable kitchen storage
Interesting, but why?
I mean, you can't use it in bear country, a raccoon or opossum could go right through it, too big and heavy to backpack with, can't imagine you'd need it for a picnic... I mean I get in the van as fold-able pantry, that's genius, but what was it originally designed for?

Re: Portable kitchen storage
Jage, you and I think too much alike. I was wondering the same thing for the same reasons, plus doesn't one already have a pantry in the van? And, even if there is no pantry in the van this does not look stable enough to sit upright in the van fully loaded. Then I thought, perhaps it would work great in a tent. But not in bear country.

Re: Portable kitchen storage
Hmm, hadn't thought about it tipping in the van. Depends on the floor plan, and if you load it with cans on the bottom shelf it would be pretty stable. If it would fit behind the door pantry on mine between the bench it would be great.

Re: Portable kitchen storage
Many SMB's are not fully built up interiors. A few of my friends have the SMB drivetrain and top and have done some of their own work inside, or not. Even in a pickup camper, that item can be handy, if it is secured to something.

Re: Portable kitchen storage
We do not have a SMB, we have a converted e150, without any storage! We do alot of camping and fishing, so we use that when we get to camp, to organize all the kitchen stuff.

Re: Portable kitchen storage
Aren't vans great? Just add a few things and they turn into wonderful camping vehicles. I love the diversity of vans and accouterments shown on this website. So many off-the-shelf things that make the van unique. Have a great time!

Re: Portable kitchen storage
Here is our portable kitchen storage.
Using this idea you can/could make a wall caddy to suit your needs.
Custom pocket size, fasteners etc... And removable too.
My girlfriend sewed this up. We could design you one with a little input.
(for you to sew)
Our cabinet holds the other food essentials.
