Re: Riding with 4 Adults

I know this is going to sound biased but I just put my Superduty up for sale on Expidition Portal. I hate to sell it but my wife wants something smaller for a daily driver.

hmmmm...recommending another Forum. Sounds like an automatic trip to banned-town to me. Can the founder of a forum be banned from his own forum?

Re: Riding with 4 Adults

I think that there are much better choices out there for serious international overlanding. Just because you can get a part shipped does not mean you can find a mechanic with the tools and information required to fix one of these vans. Acutal examples of SMB international overlanding are almost nonexistant compared to Toyota, Mercedes, mitsubishi etc. My .02

Not at all. SMB is a very well accepted vehicle in the Overland Community. In fact when I was thinking about buying my SMB, I was worried about parts and service for the intended overland use and both Scott and Graham with Overland Journal/Training encouraged me to buy the SMB. Their thinking is that you can have a part shipped anywhere in the world within a couple of days.

And 1leglance, who has given you great advice on Expedition Portal, is within 30 days of having his SMB build completed.[/quote]

Re: Riding with 4 Adults

Ford vans are used in latin america. Actually shouldn't be hard to service them down there at all. The exception may be Sportsmobile or quigley 4x4 since there are many one-off parts. But a QuadVan 4x4 would be just as easy to service since all parts are Ford.
