Seat Removal

How difficult is it to remove the front passenger seat? I was looking for an additional sleeping position for a 6ft. guy in a pinch. It looks like somebody could use the floor space taken up by this seat and the side entry area. The only question is, where do you put the removed seat? I wouldn't want to leave it outside the vehicle all night. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Get shorter friends.

I know SMB offers, or at least used to offer a "kids platofrm' that went across both front seats, but I think that would onnly give you about a 5'6" wide platform. Would be much easier than removing a seat.

My front passenger seat has an audio amplifier under it, not to mention an electrical connection for a seat heater. I wouldn't want to deal with that every time.

Maybe you can find a seat that will lay down. Not too comfortable but better than nothing. My Chevy pickup has some that lay down and I have slept in them while taking a quick break.

It is really pretty easy to remove the front passenger seat.... at least if you have the swivel option.

I had SMB TX install the quick release base for our Ram Mount, and it took only minutes to remove the seat, install the base, and reinstall the seat.

....BUT I am not sure I would want to remove it for temporary sleeping arrangments...

What would you do with the seat ?

The two front bolts are Torx style bolts. The two rear are metric shouldered nuts. Sometimes they freeze up in the mounts. They're designed not to come out easily.

I just saw a picture of a rig that SMB was working on where the passenger seat was taken out and there was a square base on the floor a few inches tall where the seat goes. Can this be removed to make the floor flat?

My passenger seat is on a 3-4" tall platform (non-rotating seat), and there's an audio amplifier under platform. I might be able to take pictures of it this weekend (I'm heading to Corona, CA tonight) if my SMB alarm let's me in. My alarm is acting up and is not recognizing either of my remotes. Using my keys to open a door sets off the alarm.

I've never thought about removing that seat/platform.
