We had some trouble with our Norcold fridge opening and dumping stuff out on the real rough roads, maybe too much beer, yet a bungee did the trick.

Dometic front load here. 13 years and a lot of miles in the trailer.

Some have pins as a safety to keep them from opening, ours doesn't. No troubles. It gets wild back there, I wouldn't want to be in it going down the road ! I don't think I'd worry about it if it fits your build.
