Awning Z-Brackets - Next Batch

OKAY!!
Let's get the list started for this next batch of Awning Z Brackets. I just placed the order to have these manufactured and I expect to ship mid January 2017.

These are NO DRILLING into the van Three Piece Sets, Black Powder Coated with Stainless Steel mounting hardware for the brackets. They are ready for mounting to the gutter of the Econoline vans.

Vans: They work on Cargo and Window Vans with SMB or CCV Pop Tops, or stock roof. They will likely NOT work on a Raised Fixed Top Van unless the roof is set back to allow the gutter to be clear for mounting. Instructions are included. They can also replace the original SMB installed brackets if you want to eliminate the bolted brackets.

Awnings: Designed for Fiamma/ Colorado Carefree/ Thule Hard Case awnings like the Fiamma F45. (If you want a Fiamma awning, PM me and I will help you buy one at a good price). The brackets also work with the ARB/CVT or any bag type awning as well. You will only use two of the brackets for this set up. Save the third in case you want to upgrade to a hard case awning.

This is a great question! Here are my thoughts:

If you have a pop top or a stock roof with no racks, then the Z Brackets are a great solution, cheaper than a rack system, and no holes.

If you have a roof rack on a stock roof, gutter mount or otherwise, and the bars extend past the edge of the gutter, then height between the gutter rim and the bottom of the bar becomes the limiting dimension. The dimension from gutter rim to top of the awning is eight inches. The back of the awning is on the vertical plane of the rim of the gutter (see pic below). My brackets are canted outward to clear the CCV top which is wider than a SMB top.

Now all that being said, if you have a stock roof with a rack with bars, look for a solution to mount the awning directly to the bars. That is what I did with my Thule rack on our previous non pop top van. I was using the low towers which made the awning JUST clear the doors when mounted below the bars. The mid height towers work fine with the 66" or 72" bars using an L bracket to mount the Fiamma mounting brackets and easily clear the doors. If you need some Fiamma extrusions, let me know, I have some I bought for our prior van.
