Hello from Virginia

I am an occasional camper. I gave up tents long ago. I camp with a group, and do a fair amount of the group kitchen, so a van makes it easier. I've had vans on and off my adult life, including a converted step van that Da Wife and I honeymooned in. She gave up camping, but allows me out a few times a year.

I look forward to gathering/sharing info. My interests and abilities are woodworking and electric. I've been mangling wood since single digits of age, and an early occupation was car stereo installation. I'm always open for a good idea.

Welcome! I am in northern Fairfax County. I’m building out my van a bit at a time. Hope to see you out there sometime!

Lower South Central Falls Church here. We've got a ground swell going.

Just checked out your garage, Gahamby, and you may be interested in our groups October event. It's the Mid Atlantic Small Craft Festival at The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. That Hobie would fit right in. We also hang out at Belle Haven Marina in Alexandria on Tuesday nights.

Thanks for the reply and the invites. I would be glad to attend. Tell me more.
Just so you know that's a 1983 Boston Whaler Super Cat 15, not a Hobie Cat.
She would start in the same class as a Hobie 16 but with a different handicap.

And in the same vein, just so you know, I'm more of a power boat guy, I just hang with a bunch of sailors. So, Tuesday nights are just us hanging on the shore, when weather permits, or on a buddy's 38' sailboat. Beer and brats, mostly. During the season, his boat is anchored out in the river, where he lives. He has a power boat to go to and from.

As for the MASCF, our group (about 30 for this event) has a compound where we eat well, drink, and boat. Several of our group participates in the races. And several of their boats are built by us (I help a bit). So basically, we're boat builders(they insist I'm one of them). We're about to start an historic build at Mount Vernon (Geo.Washington's Home) of a 18th century "punt", done in period clothing, using period tools.

I'll PM you my cell#.
