I have decided after looking at just about every rec vehicle in production that the SMB is the way to go for my wife and I. The tall sprinter is just too tall for real off road applications IMHO, while the short sprinter looks like it would work well but the clearance is not as high as the classic 4X4. My concern about the SMB FE350 with the fiberglass body is that the fiberglass won't hold up well over time. Seems like an untested application. Any opinions on how it would withstand UV and weather over the years compared to the now discontinued metal version? Thanks. Joel

Welcome, I haven't seen any recent updates on the fiberglass body version and not even sure anyone can give any more insight or info on the potential longevity of the fiberglass version since they haven't even been released, or have they? Are they even still planning to make them? That being said, there seems to be several nice used Ford E350 SMB's for sale, some are posted up on the forum, that might be a better route for you. Check SMB's sight for used ones too.
BTW, in the future you may want to include a posting title other than your forum name, that way we can at least see what the thread is all about.

SMB fiberglass 4X4

Thanks for the reply. Looks like the fiberglass body adds about $20k to the price and they said they would be in production late last year but have yet to see a pic of one delivered. I agree that a lower mileage used one would be the better call from the depreciation standpoint. I figure I might have ten decent years of driving the thing around so low mileage is key. I will talk to some folks at SMB West and update this enquiry. Thanks again. J
