If you're onboard with this one, and given they recognize there's a problem, they may be willing to take a $10K-$11K offer which is probably more than they'll get at auction, and give you more margin to repair/replace the transmission if needed.

What was brought up about the silicone on the dash does concern me. Maybe someone tried to replace the radio and just broke the clips, or maybe it was something else.

Bargain aside, it needs to meet your requirements desires. Is a passenger window van what you're looking for, and is a manual pop-top OK. If you're going with any fixed loads on the roof (solar, roof rack) the manual pop-top can be adjusted. If you're going with variable loads (bikes, kayaks,...) that are sometimes up there and sometimes not, a manual pop-top is more challenging to deal with.

Re: 2011 with transmission issues - back away?

Thanks, everybody!

I've contacted the dealer and we'll see what they say.

I'm OK with the manual top and the mostly empty interior, and I'm really happy that's it's a passenger van. Our main requirement is that it seats three or four facing forward, and sleeps three, including six-footers. We can add a bed in the PH if it doesn't have one, and there are brackets for a rear platform bed over on the Member Classifieds. I'd been wanting a V10 and EB if I could get 'em, but the price is too good to pass up, especially if they'll deal over the transmission issue. Sometimes the budget wins.

Re: the dash - yeah, I'm not sure what's up with that. There's a round, white thing between the cup holders that looks like it was a mount for something, so I'm wondering if they jury rigged it to hold a laptop, reverse camera or somesuch?

Oh, and just because there's a PH, doesn't mean that there's a PH bed. Not a deal-breaker IMO, but might be worth asking.

Yeah, if we buy it, I'll probably hit up Sportsmobile Texas for a bed on the way home.

Pictures show a bed in it.

What you should do is stop somewhere and get it converted to 4X4 - Transmission has to come out for that.

Can anyone tell from the pics if it's manual or electric? The sales force has no idea what they've got. When I asked how the top goes up, they told me it cranks.

Re: towing - I looked up the window sticker, and it's got the tow package. No clue on use, though. Only other options are XLT, reverse sensing and privacy glass. Looks like window covers went in when the PH was done. You can see them rolled up above the windows if you look carefully.

Would you be upset if I bought this?

Re: 2011 with transmission issues - back away?

LOL! Can you give me 48 hours?

The dealership is closed on Sunday. I'll talk to them on Monday, and if we decide not to go forward, I'll tell them there's another buyer. Does that work?

Oh, and for whatever reason, they don't want to sell into CA, citing titling issues between the two states. Doesn't sound right to me but meh, whatever. I'll use a friend's address in TX.

Piss or get off the pot, eh?

(Admirable of you to ask, though.)

Re: 2011 with transmission issues - back away?

Talked to the dealer this morning. The owner of the dealership also owns a Ford dealership, so the van is over at their Ford location for a look-see. They'll keep me posted.
