2wd vrs 4wd
That isn’t normal. Our 2004 V10 4wd SMB high roof got a worst 12.7/best 13.8 running 65mph with a full load of water and about 300lb of stuff. That was with stock tires and 3.73’s. It will drop some with the new tires I’m sure. I have no headers.

Just got back from a 700 mile trip towing a tent trailer. My mpg didn't change from not towing. I get 10mpg pretty much all the time, regardless of how I drive.
My van specs - 2005 passenger van (RB), V10, torqueshift transmission, Agile Offroad 4x4, 4.10 gears, 285/75/16 tires.

Well this trip i pulled a full U haul anf van. It was lighter than last trip. I got 8.5 to 9.2 and matched odometer to wifes new car.
I will change plugs. Real pain but doable

Getting 14-15 mpg on my 99 7.3 4x4 with mud tires and a 6" lift. Texas is huge so we average about 75 mph crossing it headed to Colorado. Mileage goes up if i can stay around 60 mph, but you also don't get anywhere too quickly then.

The thread is about V10 mileage.
Langan, I have a 25' motorhome with the v10 that always gets 11 mpg and only goes down to 10 when I tow a car. I agree that something isn't right with your rig.

My mistake, title suggests it's about 2x4 and 4x4 mileage.

The exhaust should be helping. Not sure what the gas v10 motor exhaust looks like, but a motor is essentially an air pump, and if there are outlet restrictions, it will hurt power production and overall efficiency, so mileage will be affected.

You're right, I didn't mean to sound harsh. Just trying to keep it pure since he's trying to figure out why one V10 gets so much worse mileage than another.

It is a little better if i do not use cruize control. I did change plugs and added 33's. It may just be its such a brick.
