97-03n Ford vans

I have a chance to get a prime 2000 E250 extended van with 37k. The only thing that is stopping me is the numerous and infamous spitting the spark plugs on these year models. Ford will do nothing about it and you can find page after page of people having the problem. Has anyone here had this problem? And if so, how did you deal with it?

One Word: Diesel (and during those years it is the bombproof 7.3L Power Stroke)

Otherwise, I have met a lot of SMB and Ford Van owners with gas engines. Not one of them has had a spark plug blow out of the head. The problem probably isn't as prevalent as the internet makes it sound although I don't doubt that it happens. If it happens to you it'll cost you.

I have a 01 V10 and haven't lost a wink of sleep.

And if you search online, yes there are cases of people blowing a plug or two. However, you need to realize that for every 1 person w/ an issue, there are a 100 people w/ absolutely no issues. It's the way the online world works.

And if you search there are also things you can do such as periodically making sure he plugs are tightened to the proper torque and god-forbid if something actually happens to you, check out some of the reviews of the insert repairs, not the basic helicoil kit.

Personally if the van is in tip top shape - go for it!
