Air conditioning for pets - auto on

I remember reading on this forum where someone had a thermostat in their van and if it got above a certain temp, the car would start and the air conditioner was set on. I'm trying to find the product that can do that.

Any help is appreciated!

I've been taking one of my dogs to work lately and she stays in the van. It's ok now because the weather is cool, but I'm trying to figure out how to keep her cool when it warms up.

Just be aware that some dogs have lowered power windows, and have locked/unlocked power door locks by standing on the arm rests.

If I'm not mistaken (though it's quite possible) I don't believe the keyless entry works with the engine running, so be sure to have a physical key with you, or at least test that condition out first in a controlled environment.

...also consider failure modes of the system.......fails to turn on, etc......

in this case, it's potentially keeping your pooch alive.......

Thanks for the heads up guys. Since I am able to park within a few feet from my office, I could keep a decent eye on the van/temp. If anything, I can just go and start the car and let it run for a while. I thought having the thermostat thing would be nice, but seems like they are discontinued and definitely not fail proof.

Just FYI, California passed a law that now allows people to break into your vehicle to "rescue" an animal left alone. Effective January 1st I believe.

You probably know that, and I know you said you parked close to the office, but I figured it was worth mentioning.

Compustar drone

You can have a compustar alarm with a "drone" installed . The drone is basically a plug in to a compustar alarm/remote start that is primarily used as a fee based gps locater (180 for 2 years). Another feature is a optional thermometer plug in for 14 dollars that allows you to not only monster your interior temp, but you can have it set it to automatically start the vehical at 85 or 95 degrees. .
The drone app also lets you know when the car is running, how long it's running for, and even let's you know if your doors are open.
Oh, and it goes without saying the GPS locater could come in really handy should your van ever get taken.
Overall it's a great investment and a great way to remotely monitor the car while away from it.
