Aluminess Rear Bumper Step

Let me know what you guys think of this, we just made one for a rig we're building. Not the best choice for departure angle but it certainly helps to get in & out of the van! I may go production if there's some interest.

I've also been adding some goodies to a new page on my site, some light mounts/etc for the Aluminess bumpers.

Re: Aluminess Rear Bumper Step

That looks great!

Is it Aluminess specific?

I've got a 15-ton pintle hitch mounted in the middle of my step bumper (Reunel), so you can't really use it as a step anymore. I would love to find a good step solution that doesn't utilize the receiver.

Re: Aluminess Rear Bumper Step

Looks like a AMP Research step. Cool idea, hard to step up on the rear bumper. My only concern would be trail clearance, especially on EB vans. Any pics of how low it hangs?

Yes but I'll post a pic soon as you can see if it will work for you.

It is an AMP step. I'll get a side profile pic.

Re: Aluminess Rear Bumper Step

I am a huge fan of your stuff chris... and so my comment on this is pretty much useless because I am sure it is a great product. BUT these are 4wheel drive rigs folks... Already turning hogs and loaded pack mules, take those steps off and let that van have just a bit more room to breath.

PS. I need to trim my fenders, and I was wondering if you had any Rock Slider suggestions. I think I will have to remove my stock running boards ASAP because I bent them pretty good last weekend.

Re: Aluminess Rear Bumper Step

Is there room enough for the flat portion of the step to go between the body of the bumper and the bumper box? Essentially mount it upside down to the rear face of the bumper, and then fold it down after the bumper box swing arm was moved out of the way.

Re: Aluminess Rear Bumper Step

I hear ya! This customer hauls multiple BMX bikes for his kids so he's constantly loading & unloading the van at races/etc. He wanted to make it easier. Some guys would like to have this, some won't.

For slides you'll have to go custom.
