Aluminess swing away tire carrier

I just picked up our new to us van yesterday. Got to play around with it today. One thing that I can't figure out is the top of the hinge of the Aluminess rear Tire carrier. On top of the top hinge, there is a steel plate with a hole in it. It is positioned flat. It is small, about 2" x 3". The hole doesn't line up with the bolt in the hinge. by the wear marks on it, it looks like it used to have something bolted to it. Any ideas?? Thanks. oclv

It's not the plate that goes back to the door hinge is it?

Rear Bumper

Otherwise, is there a CB antenna somewhere else?

I tried to post a photo, but after an hour of trying, I couldn't figure out how to do it. Even after reading the directions in "show and tell". I have photos in "my photos". I can hightlight them, but can't seem to get them to this site. Any step by step would be appreciated. oclv

Jage, you are very close. I got an email from the original owner and he said he put it there for his ham radio antenna. Mystery solved. The more I poked around the van yesterday and today the more I appreciate how well everything was designed and manufactured. oclv
