Thanks Scalf,it looks like you have attached it to the fiberglass pop top.And I assume you are running your wiring through your brake light.
If mounting to the top are you backing that up with a plate behind or is that a chafing issue?

Greg, who makes the camera you are using? It looks like it has great night vision.

That was purchased at Rocky Americas - CCD Color EXTRA Heavy Duty Night Vision Infrared Vehicle Rear View Backup Camera,

Although that one has been moved to the front and I purchased one that is identical except that it has a built in heater. The place I bought that went out of business, but I think you can find something similar at https://www.rearviewsafety.com/rvs-8...mera-1509.html

The night time performance is very good. I probably good dig up a video or two if someone wanted to see. Or make a new one.

The original camera still works fine as it has been moved inside as my dash cam. Both of these cameras can be switched to mirror mode if needed.

I split the output of the cameras straight to the monitor, and to a usb vid capture for my "Carputer" The Dashcam is set to record 15 min segments storing up to 8, it replaces the oldest , so you end up with 2 hours of stored video.

I did not use a backing plate, I believe just washers, maybe fender washers. The wiring does not go into the break light, but does follow the path under the canvas and down into the van, I could probably snap off some pics if needed.

Answering this thread, made me think of this post I made long time ago.

In general, it does clear up the fogging faster, then if you rely on the camera itself. So it is better, so it really comes down to the cost differential. I would do it again, now I believe the cost differential is lower.
