Cover for SMB
We haven't got our SMB yet but we are concerned about ways to protect it from the trees near where we'll park it. Could we cover it with some kind of manufactured cover or should we look into figuring out a way to construct a tent type structure or some other covering over it? Any other ideas? We don't want to leave it exposed to nature unless there is no other option.

Re: Cover for SMB
Here's my solution. A work in progress; I ran out of cord this morning. We don't have a tree problem. It's for a leaky penthouse while we come up with a permanent solution.
It's just a 10 x 20 heavy duty tarp ($30). Upside is that it's cheap and easy. Downside, kind of redneck looking.
A more upscale solution would be to find a local tent or awning maker. A few cuts and seams in a big tarp and you'd have a nice car blanket.

Re: Cover for SMB
Just watch the wind flap...I did that to my SMB trailer and the grommets marked up the fiberglass.

Re: Cover for SMB
These guys make custom covers for SMB's. Especially with aluminess bumpers/box, roof racks, voyager top, etc. IMHO, if you are purchasing a $100,000 rig, a customize cover less than $500.00 is worth every penny.

Got one of these sitting in boxes my other shelter logic. I've been impressed with how it held up through the winter and constant opening and closing for the tractor I "garage" there. We had so much hail this spring that I wanted a solution to protect the SMB.
Here's a shot of both the smaller shelterlogic and the current custom cover in action from the background of one of my pictures:

Re: Cover for SMB
So, let me get this straight Jage. You shelter the tractor, and leave the SMB unprotected in the cold, harsh winter?

Re: Cover for SMB
Yeah what's up with that Jage? Was the Sporty outside ready to go or is the shelter too small for the SMB?
Hail freaks me out almost as much as those stupid squirrels dropping green pinecones on my solar panels. I have got to get some covers for the panels when out and about.

Re: Cover for SMB
The SMB would fit, if my measuring tape is correct and I could line it up perfectly, back up perfectly, and have about three people spot me. There would be about 1" of clearance up and sideways at the top. It would be easier to take the shelter down, park the van and rebuild over it!
I'd considered it for emergency shelter, but then again that's why I have another shelter sitting waiting for me to build it in the driveway!
