Do quigley conversions advertise sportsmobile ?

Lynn at sports mobile has me confused.
On the SMB used vans webpage is a van located in Morro Bay advertised as a sports mobile 4x4, but I spoke with lynn at SMB today and she said it is actually a quigley. That seems strange since it is a 2008 and the side paint says "Sportsmobile". I thought I read on the forum that Sportsmobile quit doing quigley conversions before 2008?
Any thoughts?

Maybe they offer it as a lower cost option? Or the original owner already had the Quigley & then sent it to SMB for the interior? Just some ideas.....

Re: Do quigley conversions advertise sportsmobile ?

The side graphic that says Sportsmobile is on all their builds and conversions, the 4x4 however... yeah it looks like an SMB4x4 sticker. There are a lot of ways that could happen, including Lynn having mis-information, perhaps it was supposed to be a Quigley but wound up an SMB4x4? They go by that VIN code and the original build sheet.

Anyway if you can get better pictures somebody might be able to tell, if not move forward with the assumption that it's an SMB4x4 and make that one of your first questions when you get through the system and talk to the owner... i.e. are their two sticks next to the driver seat?

SMB used to sell Quigley 4x4. For a short time they sold the Quigley vans along side their own setups. Now, they only sell SMB 4x4, but you can still bring them your own Quigley van.

Another easy way to tell: Quigley = coil springs + parallel trailing arms. SMB = leaf springs.

Re: Do quigley conversions advertise sportsmobile ?

While it may be confusing, it is accurate.

The van is a Sportsmobile 4x4. It may not be a 4x4 conversion by SMB, but it is still a Sportsmobile and it is still 4x4. It didn't say (but, it may imply) 4x4 by Sportsmobile.

And, the stickers may not have been installed by SMB, a previous owner may have put them on because he liked the way they look.

Re: Do quigley conversions advertise sportsmobile ?

Somebody on here has a QuadVan 4x4 with Sportsmobile logos. So Sportsmobile must not discriminate when it comes to splashing their name around. And.... it still a Sportsmobile regardless of who did the 4x4.

My '08 Chevy is a Sportsmobile (EB50 w penthouse) and a Quigley 4x4 (could not be a SMB 4x4 as they don't do Chevy 4x4). Hope that makes sense.

That's me. It really irked Quadvan too . On pickup day before it was a 4x4, the Sportsmobile logos were on and I was asked if I wanted the 4x4 sticker as well. I have the Quadvan decals, but I haven't decided where I want them.

Anyway, prior to SMB doing their own 4x4 conversions, they had no problem affixing a Sportsmobile 4x4 sticker to a Quigley conversion, right? My guess would be that the owner had the Quigley van first, then had Sportsmobile work their magic on it.

Re: Do quigley conversions advertise sportsmobile ?

So this may warrant a new post.
I got confirmation from Lynn today that the advertised van IS a QUIGLEY.

1. Can you explain the difference Between the SMB and the Quigley?
I am not real excited about the quigley version. I had read posts mentioning death rattle and other problems with quigley. I know there are several members with quigleys but I didn't find a post that debated quigley vs SMB 4x4.

2. FYI. Although, I have had had 4x4 or all wheel drive vehicles my whole life but really don't know the basics of the 4x4 setup. Let me know if there is a thread that walks through the basics of 4wd mechanics.
