I also have the WeatherTechs. I got them for ventilation in the summer when parked. They allow some air flow without the threat of moisture getting in. I think they make a big difference when the front shade is up to send all that windshield heat out. Wind noise on the road, who knows. They do seem to allow less of the annoying air in when the window is partially open. I like mine and would replace if lost.

Heated vent, yep I've got one of those too.
